New York, NY (June 4, 2012) - Ashley Tisdale has been cast as one of the leads in Dimension Films' SCARY MOVIE 5, the latest installment in the highly anticipated SCARY MOVIE franchise.  SCARY MOVIE 5 production will begin this summer.

Tisdale quickly became one of the breakout stars of the Emmy Award-winning “High School Musical” franchise, in which she played Sharpay Evans.  The film shattered cable records and Disney released the third installment of the “High School Musical” franchise as a feature film. HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3:  SENIOR YEAR, set a box office record as the highest grossing opening weekend total for a musical.   Tisdale reprised her role in the Disney Channel original film “Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure” and the telefilm was the #1 watched show on cable for the night.  “Miss Advised,” the first show she produced through her Blondie Girl Productions shingle, will premiere on Bravo on June 18th.  Her other credits include voicing Candace in “Phineas and Ferb,” the CW drama “Hellcats” and the film ALIENS IN THE ATTIC.

Tisdale joins director Malcolm Lee who will be teaming up and working side by side with legendary comedy director David Zucker (AIRPLANE, THE NAKED GUN franchises).  Zucker wrote and directed SCARY MOVIE 3 and 4 and is also co-writing and producing SCARY MOVIE 5.

The SCARY MOVIE franchise, which lampoons the greatest in horror and genre fare, has grossed over $800 million worldwide.

The deal was negotiated for Dimension Films by Andrew Kramer, President, Business and Legal Affairs, Adrian Lopez, VP of Business and Legal and Matthew Signer, SVP of Production and Creative Affairs.  Tisdale is repped by Perlman Management, CAA and  Stone, Meyer, Genow, Smelkinson & Binder, LLP.
