Wet Hot American Summer director, David Wain, is adding some heat to his rom-com spoof They Came Together by way of Cobie Smulders (The Avengers) and Noureen DeWulf (Ocean's Thirteen).  Michael Ian Black joins the reunion of Wain, Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler, as he too was part of 2001's Wet Hot American Summer. The new film, which Wain calls "a spoof/homage/deconstruction/love letter to Romantic Comedies," was also written by Wain and Michael Showalter, again pairing the former Wet Hot scribes.  Hit the jump to read more about They Came Together and less about Wet Hot American Summer.

THR reports that the trio ha

s joined They Came Together, although role details are a bit thin.  We do know that DeWulf will star as an assistant to Rudd's character.  Rudd plays a big shot corporate executive whose business model threatens to put Poehler's quaint knick-knack shop out of business.  They Came Together also stars Ed Helms (The Office), Jason Mantzoukas (The League) and Max Greenfield (New Girl).

DeWulf can be seen on the upcoming FX series, Anger Management opposite Charlie Sheen. DeWulf plays a spoiled rich girl with a penchant for shooting her boyfriends and will appear in Sheen's anger management classes when the show debuts on June 28th.

Smulders, coming off of an impressive turn in The Avengers, will return to the small screen for the eighth season of How I Met Your Mother. While this may be the final season in which fans will finally learn the answer to the title's posed question, if new contracts are worked out, the show could continue through a tenth season.  By then, They Came Together should be out in theaters (2014).
