If you have a spare hour and forty minutes today, you may want to spend it watching a couple of documentaries about a few beloved directors.  First up, there's the 40-minute BBC 2 documentary about The Coen Brothers that was made during the production of O Brother, Where Art Thou?  At times, Joel and Ethan Coen have been mistakenly cited as "reclusive" when really they just don't seem to seek the spotlight, and don't feel the need to talk endlessly about their work.  Nevertheless, getting to watch them work is a rare opportunity, and a valuable insight into their superb filmography.

There's also an hour-long documentary entitled Fear Is Just the Beginning, which focuses on the career of John Carpenter.  Made in 2004, the documentary has Carpenter looking back on his career as well as interviews with Jamie Lee Curtis, Kurt Russell, George Romero, and more.  Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to sit and watch either doc yet in its entirety, but I plan to change that this weekend.  Hit the jump to watch the documentaries.
