Earlier this week we discussed Vin Diesel’s Facebook post about the search for a director for Furious 8 and how this next film would begin the final trilogy in the franchise.  At the end of that post he said the next time he took to Facebook he would announce the directors for the future film.  Well looks like his next post didn’t exactly deliver on that promise but did include some eyebrow-raising information. Here are some excerpts from Diesel’s latest Facebook post:

“It is no secret that my good friend Justin and I have been very intensely discussing the trilogy, as we have dreamed it for almost a decade. We know that when we re-team we will shock the world. It is also no secret that he is finishing Trek for JJ and won’t be done in time for us to make the date the studio wanted me to announce of April 14th 2017.

This would leave 8 without an obvious go to director…

I will share something crazy that my mother said six months ago after the studio had me announce the date for 8 to the world… “ Either you direct 8 yourself... or don’t do it.”

“There has always been the desire by Paul to have Rob direct one more, this is what fueled my campaign… I believe that he can and would reset the franchise nicely, returning to what was the core of the film in the beginning... racing. He would also handle the Brian O’connor issue with integrity, given that he and David Ayer were the ones who initially created that beloved character in the first place.”

While the domestic box office numbers for the latest Terminator movie: Terminator Genisys were lackluster, only making 89 million dollars off a 155 million dollar budget, the film did very well overseas bringing in another 350 million dollars. However despite that it made around $440 million, a recent article from The Hollywood Reporter suggests Terminator Genisys still lost money. Also in that same report, it stated that sources claim that future Terminator movies are on hold indefinitely.

BUY OR SELL

Last month there were rumors that Mad Max Fury Road Director George Miller was going to direct the sequel to Man of Steel.  It looks like the chances of that happening now are slim though there were actual conversations between Miller and Warner Brothers. In an interview with Digital Spy, Miller admitted to talking to WB about possibly directing a DC film and also said the following:

"I hope the next film I make is a very small film without any special effects and not many stunts"

Lionsgate has released the first teaser trailer for the latest Nicolas Sparks movie The Choice.  The official synopsis reads:

THE CHOICE tells the story of Travis Shaw and Gabby Holland, who meet first as neighbors in a small coastal town and end up pursuing a relationship that neither could have foreseen. Spanning a decade and tracing the evolution of a love affair that is ultimately tested by life’s most defining events, this story features a memorable ensemble of friends and family in Sparks’ beloved North Carolina setting, culminating in the question that every couple must ask themselves: how far would you go to keep the hope of love alive?

Hello Collider Crew,

My question is:  What is happening with movie actors turning to doing tv shows?  Is it a step down on the ladder?

Collider Movie Crew,

Love the show and love movies. I've been re-watching movies from when I was younger and boy, some of them are terrible, but I still love them. For example, when I watch Star Wars - The Phantom Menace I have such a strong nostalgia of my childhood that even though I know its not a good movie, I can't help but love watching it. I was curious if you have had this same experience with certain movies where you love them for the nostalgia from when you were younger, but know they are just terrible. If so, what movies are they?

Andrew Beutler writes:

Hey movie crew, I was just wondering about shooting The Revenant in natural lighting, is there a specific reason for this or look that this will give? or was it simply done for publicity, to up the legitimacy of the movie, just so they can say that they did it.  What are your thoughts?
