The weekend box office results are in and it looks like the Adam Sandler led animated sequel Hotel Transylvania 2 has broken records by becoming the highest September debut with 47.5 million dollars to easily take first place this weekend. In 2nd place with 18.2 million was another movie that debuted this weekend, The Intern starring Anne Hathaway and Robert Deniro. Last week’s number 1 film Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials came in at #3 with 14 million. In fourth place was Everestwith 13 million, which expanded to over 3000 screens this past weekend. Rounding out the top 5 was Black Mass starring Johnny Depp which made 11.5 million in its 2nd week.

Recently there have been some reports of Furious 8 having trouble finding a director despite the huge financial success of the franchise. However star Vin Diesel took to Facebook to clear up some of the rumors.

In a recent interview, Mark Millar, writer of the Old Man Logan comic book storyline and Fox Studios creative consultant, explained how an Old Man Logan movie could work without some of the comic book storyline’s important supporting characters that are owned by Marvel.

BUY OR SELL

While promoting The Martian, Matt Damon revealed in an interview that he turned down the role of Daredevil that eventually went to his best friend Ben Affleck. Damon also added:

“If Chris Nolan came up to me and said, ‘I want to do Daredevil,’ I would be in. Just putting that out there.”

Lord of the Rings and Goonies star Sean Astin was asked by TulsaWorld.com recently about the much talked about potential Goonies 2 and where the project stood.  Astin gave the following thoughts:

“I have said and will always say, that it’s not a question of if, but rather of when the sequel gets made. The precise makeup of it, I have no idea. Whether I will be in it, no idea. Whether they would even want the original cast in it, no idea. But it doesn’t matter. It’s bigger, it’s actually bigger than everybody. It’s bigger than even Steven (Spielberg), who created it. It’s bigger than Richard Donner, who breathed such strong life into it. It’s now a part of American cultural lore, and the studio has a lot to gain from promoting it, so you can take it to the bank that people will get to enjoy it more.”

Hi guys! I was just wondering what press screening protocol is. Are you allowed to geek out or do you have to hold it in? Yes, this question is regarding Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Hello collider crew loving the new look I was wondering. Do you think HBO will put out the final episodes of Game of Thrones season 5 in IMAX as they did this past January? Thanks and bring on the filthy.

Hey Collider Crew, Love the show and have been watching every day for the past year. I was looking up information about the upcoming Steve Jobs movie when I noticed it currently has a 6.5 imdb rating. When I looked further I found that most of the ratings are either a 10 or a 1. My question is, why are all these people going and rating this movie a 1? I can only assume they haven't even seen the movie because from everything I have heard so far it is a great movie. Thanks and keep up the awesome work.
