For one weekend every year, film, TV, and comic book studios descend upon San Diego to present and preview some of their biggest and/or most exciting upcoming projects. Comic-Con is where Marvel first announced the title Avengers: Age of Ultron, it’s where Zack Snyder took the stage to reveal that the Man of Steel follow-up would be a “Batman vs. Superman” movie, and it’s where Tom Hiddleston entered Hall H in character as Loki and bent thousands of people to his will.

But Comic-Con is host to more than just panels previewing blockbusters. Last year David Fincher took part in a small panel looking back on Fight Club, and this year Joss Whedon gets the Hall H stage all to himself to do…something.

With the Collider staff set to embark on our trip to San Diego next week where we’ll be bringing you recaps, interviews, and coverage galore, now feels like a solid time to highlight ten panels that we’re really looking forward to seeing.

10. Orphan Black

Friday, July 10th – 5:45pm – 6:45pm – Room 6BCF

Comic-Con is a celebration of fandom, and few fans are more fervent than those of BBC America’s wildly entertaining sci-fi series Orphan Black. The entire main cast (yes, even Dylan Bruce) are scheduled to appear alongside co-creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson to look back on Season 3 and tease Season 4, and Clone Club members will no doubt be hanging on their every word. The cherry on top? Parks and Recreation alum Retta was just tapped as the panel’s moderator.

9. Warner Bros. Television and DC Entertainment

Saturday, July 11th – 8:00pm – 11:00pm – Hall H

Superheroes don’t just rule the big screen; they’ve taken over television as well. The CW is currently host to a slew of popular superhero TV series, and Warner Bros. Television and DC Entertainment have blocked out three full hours to highlight shows both new and old from The CW and beyond. The panel will include a pilot screening and Q&A for the full Supergirl pilot (airing on CBS), video presentations and Q&A’s for Arrow, The Flash, and Fox’s Gotham, and a special Q&A session with the cast and producers of the upcoming CW spinoff DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. If that wasn’t enough, the panel will also provide a sneak peek at the new digital series Vixen. Caped crusaders are everywhere.

8. Ash vs. Evil Dead

Friday, July 10th – 6:00pm – 7:00pm – Room 6A

I mean, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are presenting a new installment in the Evil Dead franchise. What more do you need to know? Raimi and Campbell, plus executive producers Rob Tapert and Craig DiGregorio as well as co-executive producer Ivan Raimi and co-star Lucy Lawless will be teasing the upcoming Starz series, which continues the adventures of Campbell’s Ash. Raimi was intimately involved in the creation of the show and also helmed the first episode, so the full Evil Dead flavor should permeate throughout. This panel is the first opportunity to get a look at footage from Ash’s return, and we’re hoping it’s positively groovy.

7. Legendary Pictures

Saturday, July 11th – 2:30pm – 3:30pm – Hall H

Legendary’s panel is always full of great discussions and lovely surprises. Last year’s panel saw the announcement of Godzilla 2 and Kong: Skull Island, so we’re looking forward to seeing what Legendary has up its sleeve this year. And that’s on top of the formally scheduled panels for Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak and Duncan JonesWarcraft, which both look to be excellent filmmaker-driven genre films. Warcraft in particular is employing cutting-edge technology to bring the orcs to life, so here’s hoping we get a much better look at footage from what could be the first good video game movie ever.

6. Hannibal: Savor the Hunt

Saturday, July 11th – 5:00pm – 5:45pm – Ballroom 20

The Hannibal panel was already a highly anticipated affair, but with the show cancelled and showrunner Bryan Fuller now moving his attention to Starz’s American Gods, this could serve as the final goodbye for Fannibals should the series not get picked up by another outlet. Fuller, Hugh Dancy, and executive producer Martha De Laurentiis are scheduled to appear along with “a few other surprises,” so this will be an illuminating event regardless.

5. 20th Century Fox

Saturday, July 11th – 5:45pm – 7:30pm – Hall H

If anyone is stepping in to fill the void left by Marvel in Hall H this year, it’s 20th Century Fox—the studio is even taking Marvel’s Saturday evening timeslot. And with a slew of promising films to preview, who can blame them? We know for sure that Bryan Singer is bringing his X-Men: Apocalypse cast and the first footage, and safe bets are also on Deadpool and Fantastic Four to be highlighted during the presentation. There’s also the possibility of Channing Tatum showing up for Gambit, and/or Hugh Jackman teasing his final go-around as Wolverine with director James Mangold. As for non-superhero fare, Fox also has Independence Day: Resurgence, Assassin’s Creed, and this fall’s The Martian all on its slate, so this could be a stacked couple of hours.

4. Entertainment Weekly's Women Who Kick Ass

Saturday, July 11th – 3:45pm – 4:30pm – Hall H

This panel first arrived a couple of years ago, and it’s consistently a Hall H highlight. A welcome respite from the deluge of new footage debuts and marketing plugs, the “Women Who Kick Ass” panel results in insightful, candid discussion from its panel of participants about what it’s like to be a woman in the world of film and television. This year’s panelists include Wonder Woman herself Gal Gadot, as well as Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), and Kathy Bates (American Horror Story). This panel has yet to disappoint, and with this lineup of talented performers it looks like we’re hopefully in for another fascinating conversation.

3. Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight

Saturday, July 11th – 1:30pm – 2:15pm – Hall H

Quentin Tarantino’s panel for Django Unchained in 2012 is one of my favorite Comic-Con memories, so the prospect of the filmmaker teasing his next Western The Hateful Eight in Hall H is incredibly exciting. Tarantino’s magnetic presence would be enough in and of itself to make this panel enjoyable, but throw in a first look at footage from the pic plus insights from Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Samuel L. Jackson, and more, and this is a can’t-miss event.

2. Warner Bros. Presentation

Saturday, July 11th – 10:30am – 12:00pm – Hall H

It’s always neck-and-neck between Warner Bros. and Marvel Studios for the best Hall H panel (last year’s Mad Max: Fury Road panel was quite possibly the room’s best), and with Marvel skipping Comic-Con this year, Warner Bros. has the opportunity to absolutely dominate. Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, and Holly Hunter will be on hand to preview Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the presentation is also confirmed to include previews of Pan with Hugh Jackman and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. with Cavill and Armie Hammer. Warners is also big on surprises, and this year will be no different. Could we see the entire Justice League assembled onstage, or at least the cast of Suicide Squad? What about something from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? We can’t wait to find out.

1. Lucasfilm

Friday, July 10th – 5:30pm – 6:30pm – Hall H

Obviously. Though he’s participated in panel discussions before, J.J. Abrams didn’t bring either Star Trek or Star Trek Into Darkness to Comic-Con, so bringing Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a pretty big deal. He’ll be joined by producer Kathleen Kennedy and screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, plus a few “surprise guests,” so not only can we expect to see new footage, we’ll get to (hopefully) hear some fascinating insights as well. And with Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One scheduled to shoot later this year, might Gareth Edwards be bringing/announcing his full cast for the first spinoff film as well? It’s probably too much to hope for a Rian Johnson appearance since he can’t really discuss anything about Star Wars: Episode VIII until Force Awakens hits theaters, but it’d be great to see the new crop of Star Wars filmmakers all together in one place.
