After the success of The Conjuring 2, it was no surprise that Warner Bros and New Line would be planning an Annabelle-style spin off. This week it was announced that the Nightmares panel had it all wrong and instead of The Crooked Man, The Nun would be getting her own movie. It was also revealed that her character was added completely during a series of reshoots a mere two months before the movie premiered.

Two new posters for two very different genre films recently hit the web. First up, the new one sheet for J. A. Bayona's A Monster Calls only hinting at the aforementioned monster voiced and played by a motion captured Liam Neeson. The family drama comes to theaters on October 21. Next was the international poster for David Sandberg's feature film debut Lights Out, based on his short of the same name. The one sheet shows a ghostly, feminine figure lurking in the darkness. Lights Out comes to theaters in the US on July 22.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!

Showtime's Monster Mash series Penny Dreadful aired it's final two episodes of the season on Sunday. Clarke is going to talk about them for all you Dreadfuls out there, breaking down the unexpected series finale that came out of let field.

This past Sunday, HBO dropped a teaser for its much-anticipated drama series Westworld, based on the 1973 feature film that was written and directed by Michael Crichton. Though the television production faced delays that creator Jonathan Nolan described to i09 as being due to the production being a period Western, a science fiction movie and basically Alien, Days of Heaven and Unforgiven all rolled into one. The production got back on its feet a few months later and is slated for a fall 2016 debut. Westworld is essentially the story of "a robot theme park gone wrong" and stars Anthony Hopkins, Thandie Newton, Ed Harris, James Marsden, and Evan Rachel Wood.

According to Deadline, Carnival Row comes from a major development deal Amazon Studios inked in early 2015 for the project, a TV series version of Travis Beacham’s cult 11-year-old supernatural feature spec script A Killing on Carnival Row. Amazon at the time ordered three scripts from the project, to be co-written by The 4400 co-creator Rene Echeverria, Guillermo del Toro, Travis Beacham and Peter Cameron. Echevarria wrote the pilot script, which is going to production, and serves as showrunner. Del Toro, Beacham and Echevarria executive produce alongside Gary Ungar. A Killing on Carnival Row is set in the future in a city called the Burgue, which looks a lot like 18th Century London. It is inhabited by humans and other creatures with a serial killer is on the loose.

MONSTER OF THE WEEK

This Friday Nicolas Winding Refn's latest feature, The Neon Demon, hits theaters. Starring Elle Fanning, Bella Heathcoate, Abbey Lee, and Keanu Reeves. The Neon Demon is a violent, dark, slightly comedic look at LA's fashion industry. Schnepp and Clarke have both seen the movie, and for the rest of the panel, they discuss other movies in the horror genre that have some ties to Hollywood.
