Production crews from around the world have posted photos to Slates for Sarah, a Facebook page devoted to Sarah Jones, the camera assistant who died in an accident on set in February. It’s a cool tribute to raise awareness about safety on film sets. Earlier today, the cast and crew of NBC’s Constantine pilot uploaded a photo from the Atlanta set. The sweet gesture also gives us our first look at Matt Ryan in costume as Constantine, the “enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond.” Tie, trench coat, messy hair: he looks the part.
Neil Marshall (The Descent) is directing the pilot from a script by Daniel Cerone (The Mentalist). Cerone developed the story with David S. Goyer (Man of Steel). Check out two images after the jump. [Update: We’ve added an official promo image and press notes]

Here are press notes via NBC:
As production begins on the new pilot CONSTANTINE — from executive producers Daniel Cerone & David S. Goyer and director Neil Marshall — NBC, Warner Bros. Television and DC Entertainment are today releasing the first official image of series star Matt Ryan in character as John Constantine.
- “I’ve been a fan of John Constantine since he was first introduced in 1985. This Constantine, envisioned by Neil Marshall and embodied by Matt Ryan, looks like he sprang directly from the comics’ covers. Fans old and new are going to be in for a treat,” said executive producer David S. Goyer.
- CONSTANTINE follows enigmatic and irreverent Liverpool con-man-turned-occult-detective John Constantine, who is reluctantly thrust into the role of defending our world against dark forces from beyond.
Featured in hundreds of comic book issues, John Constantine has been a DC Comics staple since his first appearance as a supporting character in Swamp Thing in 1985. The character was subsequently featured in his own bestselling Hellblazer and Constantine comic book series.
