A24 snatched up the rights to Matt Shakman’s Cut Bank just ahead of its Toronto International Film Festival premiere and now, with the movie's DIRECTV debut fast approaching, the company finally unveiled the very first trailer. The movie stars Liam Hemsworth as Dwayne McLaren, a guy eager to ditch his tiny hometown for bigger things. When Dwayne happens to videotape the town’s very first murder, he thinks he can get rich quick by scoring the big reward, but, it turns out, it isn’t that easy.

I can’t say I’m all that into the trailer, but the piece’s eerie feel and unique beat are intriguing. Plus, I’m eager to see what Hemsworth brings to the movie. He’s a household name now, primarily thanks to The Hunger Games, but we’ve yet to see him show off much range and carry quality material. Cut Bank is due to hit DIRECTV on February 26th and then get a theatrical release on April 3rd. The film also stars Teresa Palmer, John Malkovich, Billy Bob Thornton, Bruce Dern, Michael Stuhlbarg and Oliver Platt.
