Will Ferrell's already played a grown-up step-brother opposite John C. Reilly, but in Sean Ander's upcoming comedy Daddy's Home, he'll get to play a loving and devoted step-father instead. Complicating his attempts to fit into his new family is the estranged real father, played by Mark Wahlberg. Though they learned to get along in The Other Guys, Ferrell and Wahlberg's characters are quickly at odds, as seen in this first trailer for the film. You can get a more in-depth look at the film thanks to Clarke Wolfe's preview here.

If you're a fan of the chemistry between these two and enjoyed the 2010 Adam McKay comedy, then you know what you're in for in this film. I consider myself in the above-mentioned groups so I'll be looking forward to the Christmas 2015 release. I don't expect the film to be anywhere near as family-friendly as Ferrell's holiday classic, Elf; it's not currently rated but Anders' previous R-rated comedies - She's Out of My League, Hot Tub Time Machine, We're the Millers, Horrible Bosses 2 - suggest that it will probably land a similar rating. Then again, Daddy's Home might end up with a PG-13, falling somewhere between those relatively raunchier films and the kid-friendly mess that was Mr. Popper's Penguins. Either way, if you think you'll need something to temper the saccharinity of the holiday season, keep this one on your radar.

Linda CardelliniThomas Haden Church, Alessandra Ambrosio, Paul Scheer and Hannibal Buress also star. Watch the first trailer for Daddy's Home below:
