While prepping to shoot the Daredevil season finale, showrunner Steven DeKnight took to Twitter to answer some questions about the upcoming Netflix series.  The show stars Charlie Cox as the title character, but his rendition of Daredevil may look less familiar to some because thanks to the first stills that dropped about two months ago, we know that Daredevil isn’t beginning the show with his iconic red costume, suggesting that DeKnight and co. may be sticking close to Frank Miller and John Romita Jr.’s Daredevil: Man Without Fear.

But even if that is the case, you can expect the show to branch out to a degree because during that Twitter Q&A, DeKnight confirmed that Daredevil will follow in the footsteps of basically every Marvel big and small screen project and include Easter eggs.  Hit the jump for more on that and for DeKnight’s interest in working with The Punisher.  Daredevil will premiere on Netflix in 2015.

Here’s DeKnight’s response to the Easter egg question:

There’s a lot going on in the MCU and in the Marvel TV world as well, but I’m hoping they use a good deal of those Easter eggs to start building this Marvel Netflix realm, especially if the plan is for shows to follow the Avengers theatrical model.  We’ve got Jessica JonesIron Fist and Luke Cage on the way, and all three could certainly benefit from Daredevil establishing a strong foundation.

And now here’s the bit about The Punisher:

No, the Punisher movies didn’t do too well, but both were releases and they both hit theaters in 2004 and 2008.  A lot has changed since then.  At this point, it seems as though anything under the Marvel banner will be of a certain quality and will also come with a guaranteed viewership.

But, of course, Marvel already has quite the upcoming slate established.  Is there any room for The Punisher in it?  Perhaps the character has a better shot at scoring a TV show instead.
