At long last, Marvel’s Daredevil Netflix show premiere date has finally been set.  Kicking off the TCA’s (look for our extensive coverage over the next few weeks), the streaming service announced today that all 13 episodes of Marvel’s Daredevil, as it's officially called, will be released simultaneously on Friday, April 10th, unveiling Marvel’s first foray into Netflix territory.  The series stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind attorney living in modern day Hell’s Kitchen who practices law by day and fights injustice in the streets by night as the superhero “Daredevil”.  Vincent D’Onofrio plays the primary villain Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, and the Season One cast is filled out by Rosario Dawson, Deborah Ann Woll, and Elden Henson.

Drew Goddard penned the first two episodes before departing as showrunner, while Spartacus alum Steven S. DeKnight subsequently took over head honcho duties.  Daredevil is the first of four planned Netflix series from Marvel, with A.K.A. Jessica Jones set to premiere sometime next year.  Hit the jump for more, including a motion poster for the series.

Marvel’s Daredevil is kicking off what’s shaping up to be a big year for Netflix Original Series, as the streaming service marches on with its plan to offer significantly more original content.  It’ll be interesting to see how Daredevil differs from Marvel’s network offerings Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter, and those involved with Daredevil have previously likened the series to grittier material like The Wire as opposed to the tone of other superhero series.  Though this is still Marvel after all, so I don’t imagine we’ll be getting HBO-level grit.
