After being revealed in December 2021, Behaviour Interactive has released and brand-new trailer and has announced the release date for the next chapter for their asymmetrical multiplayer title Dead by Daylight which will see the horror-themed title crossing over with the Japanese psychological horror franchise, Ringu. The release date is more than "seven days" away (missed opportunity) but fans won't need to wait too much longer as Chapter 23, which is being called "Sadako Rising," will be arriving on March 8th, 2022.

The brand-new trailer clocks in at just over a minute and shows off the iconic Sadako Yamamura as she steps out of the well that viewers and readers of the source material are all too familiar with. She enters the map through a TV and from the short snippet of gameplay shown, it would seem that she will be focused on stealth as she is shown being able to turn invisible. To follow the game's naming conventions, Sadako will be called The Onryō in-game, meaning "vengeful spirit" in Japanese.

With a new Killer also comes a new Survivor and who better to take that place than a grown-up Yoichi Asakawa, the young boy with psychic abilities who appeared in the original film adaptation in 1998 and is one of the few characters to actually survive Sadako. This will be the first time fans will get to see Asakawa after the ending of 1999's Ringu 2 over 20 years ago and will give fans a glimpse at what became of the character. The designs of the two characters do a great job capturing their original depictions of these characters, with Sadako's long, black hair completely obscuring her face as well as having a constant VHS effect surrounding her as she pursues her targets.

The inclusion of Ringu was made with a short teaser trailer back in December of last year with the team behind the game making it clear that they would be specifically adapting the 1991 novel by Koji Suzuki and the 1998 film adaptation. Sadako's inclusion brings the game's Killer roster to a total of 27 with Asakawa bringing the list of survivors to 30. Since its debut in 2015, the multiplayer title has seen some of the most iconic killers and characters from the realm of horror appear, from films characters like Halloween's Michael Myers to Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street to video games such as Nemesis and Pyramid Head from Resident Evil and Silent Hill, respectively.

Dead by Daylight Chapter 23, "Sadako Rising," will kick off on March 8th, 2022. You can watch the new trailer showcasing Sadako, Yoichi Asakawa, and the release date for the upcoming crossover between Ringu and the popular multiplayer title down below.
