Fans who have been waiting forever for Deadpool don't have that much longer to go, relatively speaking, and star Ryan Reynolds says the filmmakers are taking great care not to betray the character in the translation to the screen. Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been shepherding their script through the development process at Fox with care and, as mentioned before, one of the benefits of doing something like this on the cheap (at least when compared to other superhero movies) is the ability to be more specific and edgy with the IP. Deadpool is a bit less kid-friendly than some of the other superheroes.

When Shortlist asked Reynolds how he felt about the film finally getting made he replied:

"I’m incredibly happy about it - we’ve got a director that understands that world, and writers with a slavish devotion to the canon of that character. That’s the most important aspect: it’s made in a way the most critical of fanboys could embrace. Well, that’s the hope."

And hopefully they can pull it off. Deadpool also stars Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano and T.J. Miller and will be directed by Tim Miller (who also helmed the leaked test footage that helped nudge the project along). The movie starts shooting this month and opens in theaters on February 12, 2016.
