The first official Deadpool set video has been released, although unfortunately it’s through Extra. That means Mario Lopez spends half this piece making this piece about him. Because that’s who audiences really care about: Mario Lopez. Also, his statement “Only we were invited to the top secret Vancouver set of Deadpool,” is untrue. Steve was there last week.

Lopez’ vanity aside, this is the first look at Ryan Reynolds up close in the video. Granted, you won’t hear anything about the movie itself, but it’s still nice to get another look at Reynolds wearing the costume and doing it so well. Since filming will likely be completed or at least mostly completed by the summer, I’m wondering if Fox will take some footage to Comic-Con. An even better move would be putting Reynolds on stage in character like Sony did a few years back with Andrew Garfield for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Grit your teeth through Mario Lopez’ self-aggrandizing and watch the Deadpool video below. The film opens February 12, 2016 and also stars Ed Skrein as Ajax, Morena Baccarin as Copycat, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and T.J Miller as Weasel.

Here’s the official synopsis for Deadpool:

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
