It's been a long road waiting for a proper film to be made from the character of Deadpool, the wisecracking, ultra-violent "merc with a mouth" from the pages of Marvel. It's been at the top of Ryan Reynolds to-do list for years now, and when footage of the finished project was screened at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, the room erupted with enthusiasm that rivaled what one saw when the pope visited New York City recently.

Beyond that, Deadpool, which is directed by debuting helmer Tim Miller, has done a remarkable job with its marketing campaign, from the SDCC reveal (which played twice in Hall H) and that wonderful play off of Burt Reynolds' famed Playgirl pose. The latest step in the mounting anticipation for the film's impending February 2016 release is a video of Reynolds done up in his Deadpool garb and character, attempting to assemble his squad for Halloween, a group that includes some familiar faces for those who have any interest at all in the Marvel universe.

Let it never be said that cursing with, or at, children isn't the funniest thing in the history of the world. That goes double for when the children happen to be dressed up as Storm, Cyclops, Beast, and Wolverine, amongst other Marvel creations. It's a great way to reinforce the general nastiness and cynicism of the character, and, from the looks of it, Miller's film, which was penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the team behind the surprisingly strong Zombieland. That being said, there is the slightest worry that Deadpool will land in the same atrocious camp as the staggeringly overrated Kick-Ass series, which plays cynical only to then shoehorn in rote, unthinking morals and attempts at realistic depictions of pain and torture by each film's long-awaited end. We'll have to wait until February 12th to find out how Wade Wilson fares on the big screen, but until then, more kid cursing please!
