Writer-director Scott Derrickson's paranormal crime thriller Deliver Us from Evil, opening soon, is based on the real-life experiences of retired N.Y.P.D. Sergeant Ralph Sarchie. Eric Bana plays Sarchie in the upcoming film, but you can hear the real story from the demonologist himself in this new short video. Take his words at face value or with a grain of salt; either way, Sarchie is certainly a character. Now whether he's a disturbed individual in need of psychological help, a clever huckster, or something in between, I'll leave up to you to decide.

In DELIVER US FROM EVIL, New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana), struggling with his own personal issues, begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramirez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city. Based upon the book, which details Sarchie’s bone-chilling real-life cases.
