In the Marvel vs. DC debate, Marvel has already won 2016. That almost certainly worked as a starting pistol for DC fans to hit the comment section but there's simply no way for me to see the legitimacy in the counter-argument to that. Where Captain America: Civil War was strikingly well directed, funny, and thrilling in its bigger fight and chase sequences, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was weighed down by its portentous nods to heady subject matter that essentially served as window dressing for a joyless and boring spectacle. And where Suicide Squad aimed for dark humor and landed in obnoxious nonsense, Deadpool delivered the pitch-black humor that has evaded comic book movies for so long.

Now, Marvel has one more opportunity to either further push their brand into more entertaining and ambitious realms with Scott Derrickson's upcoming adaptation of Doctor Strange, about a surgeon who becomes a mystical superhero following a car accident and a spiritual sojourn to Nepal. The latest featurette for the film, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role alongside Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, walks us through the origins of Strange and what he must face by the end of the movie. The video, which you can take a look at below, features interviews from Kevin Feige, Ejiofor, Swinton, Cumberbatch, and co-star Rachel McAdams as well. Most of what's divulged here is well known to those who have been following this movie, but the trippy, Inception-like imagery continues to amaze, even after seeing the same imagery more than a few times before. Despite some concerns about the script, Doctor Strange already looks like it will make Marvel three for three in 2016.
