Big Finish Audio has announced they have their own plans to celebrate the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary this year.  While most of the BBC's plans for the celebration are still a secret, Big Finish has said they will be bringing together the Fourth (Tom Baker), Fifth (Peter Davison), Sixth (Colin Baker), Seventh (Sylvester McCoy) and Eighth (Paul McGann) Doctors together in a new 100-minute story. The new adventure, which will be called Doctor Who: The Light at the End, will deal with the potentially imminent destruction of the Time Lord in his many incarnations.  For more on the special and who else will be included, hit the jump.doctor-who-christmas-special-2012-matt-smithWriter, director and executive producer Nicholas Briggs says of the project,

“We wanted to do a proper, fully-fledged multi-Doctor story for this very special occasion, and it’s wonderful that all the surviving Doctors threw themselves behind the project so enthusiastically. That’s not to say the first three Doctors don’t appear – we wanted to pay homage to the whole history of the classic series.”

Companions Leela (Louise Jameson), Nyssa (Sarah Sutton), Peri (Nicola Bryant) Ace (Sophie Aldred) and Charley Pollard (India Fisher) will also be joining the cast for the special.

Producer David Richardson adds,

"Because Geoffrey Beevers is back to create mayhem as the Master, and there will be a number of appearances from some much-cherished old friends from the TV series…"

Per Big Finish, The Doctor Who: The Light at the End special will be released both as a limited edition five-disc set that will also include documentaries and a downloadable edition of Doctor Who Magazine, as well as a standard edition that will include just the new story.
