The documentary about legendary poster artist Drew Struzan, titled Drew: The Man Behind the Poster, has been percolating for some time now, and it looks like the film is finally poised to be released in theaters.  Deadline reports that The Man Behind the Poster will premiere at Comic-Con this year on Friday, July 19th at San Diego’s Gaslamp 15, followed by a theatrical release in NYC and other markets on August 16th by Kino Lorber.  The distributor will also release the pic VOD at a later date.  Struzan is singlehandedly responsible for some of the most iconic movie posters of all time, having designed the one-sheets for Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, and Blade Runner.

The documentary pays tribute to Struzan and includes interviews with a number of subjects including Guillermo del Toro, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Michael J. Fox, Harrison Ford, and Frank Darabont.  This is one I’ve been itching to see for a while now, and it’s encouraging to know that the pic will finally be seeing the light of day.  Hit the jump to watch the trailer.
