Last night, I got a chance to speak with writer/director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) on the red carpet for the MTV Movie Awards where Wright debuted new footage from his upcoming film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. I was able to talk to Wright about his Scott Pilgrim reshoots/pickups, the future of his Blood and Ice Cream trilogy (the first two parts are Shaun and Hot Fuzz) with Simon Pegg and his upcoming Los Angeles Film Festival. I also learned that with all his efforts focused Pilgrim, Wright hasn’t begun to think about casting for Ant-Man. Hit the jump to read or listen to the full interview and for a full Scott Pilgrim synopsis. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World hits theaters August 13, 2010.

Thank you for stopping with us. What were you most excited…

EDGAR WRIGHT: Where’s Frosty?

Frosty is away, he sent the intern here.

WRIGHT: I know, I see it!

So what were you most excited for with the re-shoots or the pickups or whatever we want to call them?

WRIGHT: Well just, you know, like the, sort of, it's like the icing on the cake. I’ve done it on both films I’ve…all three films I’ve done, and usually its like if you get an opportunity to kind of, like, sort of jazz up a couple of bits, its an opportunity to be taken.

I know you haven’t thought too much about Ant-Man but what kind of actor are you looking for to play the role?

WRIGHT: I haven’t thought too much about it.

Do you want an unknown or a big name actor or a medium name actor?

WRIGHT: I don’t know. (laughs)

Any truth to Josh Holloway rumors?

WRIGHT: I have no idea about that kind of stuff, its funny, a whole bunch of stuff gets announced every like three weeks…I don’t know.

Any thoughts on a third Blood and Ice Cream movie?

WRIGHT: Well we have an idea for the script and me and Simon are planning to write that later in the year.

Last thing, do you want to plug your L.A. Film Festival event real quick?

WRIGHT: Yes I do. It’s on June the 20th. And it’s a talk about my career and the guest interviewer is J.J. Abrams. Which I think will frustrate people because he’s gonna be interviewing me which means the people can’t interview him about Lost or Star Trek 2 or Super 8 so it should be a lot of fun.

And how can we get tickets for that?

WRIGHT: I guess at the L.A. Film Festival site.

Thank you so much, I know you’re busy.

WRIGHT: Thanks Teen Wolf. [Note: I was wearing a Teen Wolf shirt]

Thank you.

WRIGHT: I appreciate it.
