Emmy Rossum in Talks for YOU’RE NOT YOU, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Joins A THOUSAND TIMES GOOD NIGHT, Derek Jacobi Refines GRACE OF MONACO

Up-to-the-minute casting information follows below:

  • Emmy Rossum (The Day After Tomorrow) is in negotiations to join Hilary Swank (Boys Don’t Cry) in You’re Not You, directed by George C. Wolfe (Nights in Rodanthe).
  • Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) will join Juliette Binoche (The English Patient) in the indie drama A Thousand Times Good Night for co-writer/director Erik Poppe (Hawaii, Oslo).
  • Derek Jacobi (The King’s Speech) will be tasked with refining Grace Kelly (Nicole Kidman) from an American movie star into a princess in Grace of Monaco, directed by Olivier Dahan (La vie en rose).
  • Finally, Tye Sheridan (Tree of Life) has joined Joe, a drama starring Nicolas Cage (National Treasure) and directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express).

emmy-rossum-youre-not-youFirst up comes word that Rossum in is negotiations to star opposite Swank in You’re Not You.  Adapted from Michelle Wildgen’s book, You’re Not You “centers on an aimless and self-absorbed college student (Rossum) whose life is changed when she takes a part-time job caring for a woman (Swank) with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.”  The privately funded picture was scripted in part by Shana Fest and Jordan Roberts.  Rossum, who can be seen in the third season of Showtime’s Shameless starting in January, will next be seen in the big-screen adaptation of Beautiful Creatures on February 13th.

Variety reports that Coster-Waldau will join Binoche in A Thousand Times Good Night, an indie drama co-written by Harald Rosenlow Eeg. The picture was based in part on director Poppe’s experiences as a war-time photographer in the 80s, though Binoche will play that part as the lead, who is torn between her job and her family.  There’s no report on exactly who Coster-Waldau will be playing in the film, which recently started filming in Ireland and will continue to Morocco, Kenya and Kabul for shoots.  Coster-Waldau recently wrapped Oblivion alongside Tom Cruise and can next be seen opposite Jessica Chastain in the Guillermo del Toro-produced horror film, Mama.  Look for his return to the third season of Game of Thrones on HBO starting March 31st, 2013.

Variety also reports that Jacobi will join Grace of Monaco as Count Fernando D’Aillieres, a flamboyant aristocrat who is well-informed on all things related to Monaco.  The picture also stars Tim Roth, Frank Langella, Parker Posey, Milo Ventimiglia, Paz Vega, Roger Ashton-Griffiths, Robert Lindsay and Geraldine Somerville.  Jacobi can next be seen alongside Dakota Fanning and Emma Thompson in Effie, from director Richard Laxton.

Finally, Variety reports that Sheridan will join Joe, a picture based on Larry Brown’s novel, adapted for the screen by Gary Hawkins.  Joe follows a man who befriends a 15-year-old boy, the eldest son of a homeless family with a worthless patriarch.  Together, the two forge a path of redemption through a rugged Southern town.
