While I think director Richard Linklater's fascination with the art of conversation tends to weaken his movies, sometimes it creates their entire soul and works beautifully.  That's the case with Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, which follow two people (played by Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy) and the emotional bond they form in their short time together.  Hawke and Delpy collaborated with Linklater on the script for Sunset (and did uncredited work on Sunrise), and now Hawke says the trio have been heavily discussing a sequel over the last six months and will try to write the screenplay next year.

Speaking about the next Before movie, Hawke tells Allocine [via The Playlist]:

"Well, I don't know what we're going to do but I know the three of us have been talking a lot in the last six months," Hawke revealed. "All of three of us have been having similar feelings that we're ready to revisit those characters. There's nine years between the first two movies and, if we made the film next summer, it would be nine years again so we're really started thinking that would be a good thing to do. We're going to try write it this year."

It would be interesting to see this become Linklater, Hawke, and Delpy's revisit these characters every nine years and create a kind of fictional version of Michael Apted's Up series.

Moving along the lines of following a life over the course of many years, Hawke also provided an update about his and Linklater's fascinating project, Boyhood:

"We've been making a short film once a year for nine years and it follows the life of a little boy from the time he's six to his eighteen. We have a few more years to go but we're almost done with it. I play his father, the little kid's the lead of the movie. It's a movie about time. You'll watch us all age in the movie, it's about growing up -- I can't wait for people to see it."

Hawke will next be seen in the drama The Woman in the Fifth, he has a pivotal cameo in the remake of Total Recall, and he's starring in Scott Derrickson's found-footage horror film Sinister.  Linklater's new film, Bernie, will hit theaters in 2012.
