A new Everest trailer has gone online, and it seems a shame to watch it in anything other than IMAX. Inspired by real events and written by Mark Medoff (Children of a Lesser God) and Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog MIllionaire), the movie focuses on two different expeditions that struggle to survive while climbing the world’s tallest mountain.

However, this trailer doesn’t focus on the characters all that much beyond worried phone calls between Jason Clarke and Keira Knightley’s characters. Instead, it’s all about how Everest is a majestic death trap, and it has a myriad of ways to kill those who would attempt to summit the world’s tallest peak. I hope there’s good character drama in between the disaster on display, but at the very least it looks like director Baltasar Kormakur has crafted one intense ride.

Check out the new Everest trailer below. The film opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on September 18th and also stars Josh Brolin, John HawkesJake GyllenhaalSam WorthingtonRobin Wright, and Emily Watson.
