everybody-wants-some-redband-trailer

Folks who have seen writer/director Richard Linklater's new film Everybody Wants Some!! have called it a spiritual sequel to his modern classic Dazed and Confused, a trend that our own Perri Nemiroff was a bit dismissive of until she had a chance to see it for herself at SXSW. There's certainly a Dazed vibe in the new red-band trailer for Linklater's latest, which takes place in the 80s rather than the 1970s. I'm not particularly sold on this movie from the trailer alone since it looks like a film about the types of people I avoided in both high school and college.

And yet I put a lot of stock in both Linklater's work and our own reviewers' opinions, so I know that there's much more beneath the surface of this film than simple college jock antics. What's perhaps the most interesting draw to this movie--one that's not completely made clear in this trailer--is that the narrative isn't a typical "boy meets girl, boy gets girl" story, but rather just a slice of the 80s that audience members get to live in for a short while. The trailer, just like the movie, nails the music though. That's enough of a hook to pique my interest.

Starring Will Brittain, Zoey Deutch, Ryan Anthony Guzman, Tyler Hoechlin, Blake Jenner, Glen Powell, and Wyatt RussellEverybody Wants Some!! opens April 15th. Take a look at the red-band trailer for Everybody Wants Some!! below:
