Steve Weintraub was recently at CinemaCon, which is where studios go to promote their upcoming films to movie theater owners. This means bringing out the talent to talk about the movies, so we got the chance to talk to Dan Fogler, who was on hand to promote Warner Bros.' Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The film, which takes place in New York City about seventy years before the events of Harry Potter, follows magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), who must recapture magical creatures that have escaped. Fogler plays a muggle (or in the American nomenclature, “no-maj”) who gets caught up in Newt’s whirlwind adventure.

During our conversation with Fogler, he talked about what it means to join the Harry Potter universe, the experience of making the film, and how the story will surprise people.
