20th Century Fox has released an extended, four-minute trailer for director Josh Trank’s upcoming Fantastic Four reboot…a few days before the movie hits theaters. The film is, of course, a new adaptation of the Marvel Comic and revolves around five scientists (played by Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, and Toby Kebbell) who have their physiology significantly transformed after an inter-dimensional travel experiment goes wrong. The four heroes (and one villain) are then at the mercy of the U.S. government, which struggles to figure out what to do with these new superpowered humans.

Clearly Fox is a bit nervous about the performance of this movie, and they’re throwing everything at the public, marketing-wise, to draw folks into the theater this Friday. There’s even a brief tag at the end of this extended trailer in which Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool entices theatergoers with the promise of seeing the Deadpool trailer in front of the film. I honestly can’t see how the movie could be that bad—the cast is excellent and the trailers have been really solid, and for what it’s worth I’m still genuinely looking forward to seeing the film. But releasing an extended trailer the week of release is not exactly a common practice for big blockbuster films.

Anyway, check out the new trailer below. The film also stars Reg E. Cathey and Tim Blake Nelson and opens in theaters on August 7th.
