Luke Evans Offered Villain Role in FAST AND THE FURIOUS 6?

     May 1, 2012

After Jason Statham turned down a role in The Fast and the Furious 6, could the opportunity have fallen to fellow Brit, Luke Evans?  Recent reports suggest that Evans, who is currently filming for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit movies, has been tapped as the villain in the sixth installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise.  The role in Justin Lin’s follow up to the wildly successful Fast Five was previously turned down by Statham when he was surprisingly unable to reach a deal with Universal.  It’s also possible that Rihanna is still circling a villainous role in some capacity, though nothing has been clarified on that front.  It has been confirmed, however, that Michelle Rodriguez will be returning for the sixth run.  Hit the jump to sort out what else we know.
Twitchfilm reports fast-and-the-furious-6-luke-evansthat Evans has been offered a villainous role in Fast and the Furious 6, further fueling speculation that the big baddie will be a Brit this time around.  Other than The Hobbit, Evans has had steady work this year filming The Raven and a number of smaller films.  The franchise has never been one to create iconic or even memorable villains, choosing instead to let Vin Diesel and his crew do the heavy lifting (although some would argue that Dwayne Johnson’s role in Fast Five was certainly memorable and, at the least, antagonistic to Diesel’s anti-hero).  But even though he played the King of the Gods in Immortals, could Evans take down the theoretically combined might of Diesel and Johnson? Doubtful, but interesting nonetheless.  Fast and the Furious 6, starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Gina Carano, is set to start shooting in Europe this June.
