See that shirtless fellow in the above banner? That's Nick (Frank Dillane), and he's the very frightened character that's the focus of AMC's first promo teaser for their upcoming series Fear the Walking Dead. The companion series to The Walking Dead premieres this August and follow the members of a dysfunctional family up to and during the early days of the outbreak. Though we don't see any of the Walkers that presumably inspired the fear behind Nick's escape (it could be because of an angry father/husband/boyfriend who found Nick with his daughter/wife/girlfriend, after all), the fear is clearly evident regardless.

For more on Nick, let me point you back to some of The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman's character details. This is our first good look at Nick, and here's our first indication of just what kind of person he is:

“In the face of that, we’ve got Nick—who is played by Frank Dillane—who is pretty much a parent’s worst nightmare. He has flunked out of college, had a lot of trouble, got mixed up in some bad elements, and is definitely the problem child. And it’s exacerbated for him to be next to this perfect sister who seemingly doesn’t have anything going on in her life that is negative. But that’s not really the case, that’s just his perception. So you have these two siblings that are very much at odds with each other.”

So it's not too far out of the realm of possibility to think that Nick is running from some non-Walker threat since it seems like he gets into plenty of trouble on his own. We'll find out for sure when Fear the Walking Dead premieres on AMC this August.
