AMC has just released the first full trailer for its upcoming series Fear the Walking Dead (still the worst / laziest title for a show, and no I am still not over it). My feelings about the title aside, the series -- acting as a prequel to The Walking Dead's depiction of life after the zombie apocalypse -- feels reminiscent of the first season of The Strain, where a crowded populace only slowly begins to understand that there is a true terror coming to destroy them (and turn them into shambling blood-suckers of some kind).

So in that vein, Fear the Walking Dead's trailer hits all the right beats of the dawn of an apocalypse: we'll follow a central family through their brushes with the horror, as no one can quite believe what's going on until it's too late. And in a nod to our reliance on social media as news, the response to the attacks is basically, "'shopped!"

You can watch the full trailer below, and let us know what you think. Basically, I will watch anything with Kim Dickens in it, because she's great. Fear the Walking Dead is set to premiere August 23rd. The walkers are nigh! And be sure to check out our full panel recap here.

Here’s the official synopsis for Fear the Walking Dead:

A companion series to “The Walking Dead,” the #1 show on television among adults 18-49, “Fear the Walking Dead” takes us back to the beginning of the zombie apocalypse – a time when the world was changing rapidly for reasons unknown, before anyone understood exactly what was happening, when life as everyone knew it was upended and altered in ways no one could have ever imagined. “Fear the Walking Dead” is executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert and showrunner David Erickson and produced by AMC Studios. The series, set in Los Angeles, stars Kim Dickens as Madison, Cliff Curtis as Travis, Frank Dillane  as Nick, Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alicia, Elizabeth Rodriguez as Liza, Ruben Blades as Daniel, Mercedes Mason as Ofelia and Lorenzo James Henrie as Chris.
