Women's support for other women hasn't received enough attention in the past. Female characters in Hollywood are frequently shown as patronizing, dishonest, fickle friends who are more concerned with obtaining the guy than nurturing their relationship with other women. That's what we've been made to believe, at least.

Numerous films and television series, on the other hand, have succeeded in capturing the remarkable ties that form between women who love and support one another unreservedly. Some of these films are brilliant comedies, while others are heartbreaking dramas, but they are all lovely depictions of female friendships that have reminded us how important our female friends are in our lives. Nonetheless, we will only discuss female friendships that are honored in movies in this piece.

Annie & Lilian - Bridesmaids (2011)

Annie and Lillian working out at the park

After being asked to be the maid of honor for her best friend's wedding, a woman named Annie (Kristen Wiig) goes through a series of amusing trials and tragedies in the comedy Bridesmaids.

Annie and Lillian's funny friendship exemplifies how difficult it is to share your best friend with another person and how easy it is to forgive her for all she has done wrong in the run-up to your wedding. The film elicits a wide range of human emotions, emphasizing the multifaceted, often distressing, and ultimately gratifying character of female friendship.

Lady Bird & Julie - Lady Bird (2017)

Greta Gerwig's solo directorial debut is a coming-of-age drama starring Saoirse Ronan as 17-year-old Christine, a.k.a Lady Bird. The teenage female friendship depicted in the film is full of heartbreaking betrayal, ambition, and complexity of adolescence, but one thing remains constant: their friendship.

Carol & Maria - Captain Marvel (2019)

Maria Rambeau and Carol Danvers

Captain Marvel's Vers (Brie Larson) roamed the galaxy as an interplanetary warrior hero, helping combat the Skrulls, an evil alien species. Vers is Carol Danvers, a former Air Force pilot who was brainwashed into fighting on the wrong side of a cosmic war after being in an accident that gave her remarkable powers.

Maria (Lashana Lynch), Carol’s best friend, is the one who helps Carol center herself by reminding her of who she is as she battles to come to grips with her muddled recollection. When you have tremendous doubts about yourself, come to your best friend, she'll know what to do. Carol and Maria demonstrate a strong sisterhood and friendship that has withstood the test of time.

Their friendship is so touching that you'll find yourself crying and laughing with them. Even amid their growing pains, they can be ecstatic about each other's accomplishments. It's obvious how much they care for each other and how proud they are of each other.

Everybody should have a friend like Peik Lin. She helps Rachel make her family debut with the Young less turbulent. Before Jenny (Gina Rodriguez) moves across the country to pursue her career, her closest friends, Erin (DeWanda Wise) and Blair (Brittany Snow) embark on giving her a proper send-off and comfort after being dumped by her boyfriend of 9 years, right on the verge of departure.

Jenny, Blair, and Erin are consistently supportive of one another, but they are also brutally honest when dealing with problems in one another's life. The film's title, Someone Great, does not refer to any romantic interest in the girls' lives but rather to become the best version of themselves with the help of their greatest friends.

Audrey & Morgan - The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018)

Audrey and Morgan are hiding from bullets

Audrey & her best friend, Morgan (Kate McKinnon) is quickly lured into a life-or-death mission to defend the globe from an evil syndicate.

Audrey and Morgan's friendship is at the heart of the movie. Audrey's logical and practical thinking is counterbalanced by Morgan's recklessness and wildness, which can be found in every real-life friend duo. At the same time, the audience cannot stop wondering what they will do if they find themselves in a similar circumstance with their best friends.

Marlo & Tully - Tully (2018)

Marlo (Charlize Theron), a forty-something woman, suffers from postnatal depression after the birth of her third child. Tully (Mackenzie Davis), a 26-year-old night nurse, arrives under cover of darkness to watch after the newborn while Marlo rests.

The movie emphasizes the value of having someone to talk to during a hard time and loving the parts of yourself that you believed were lost. With the generational gap between the two women, Marlo can advise Tully on some of her issues while also shedding some light on her past mistakes. In return, Tully teaches Marlo how to savor each moment and stay grounded. Something that is sorely needed in today's world.
