Ferris Fest is coming! The three-day-long celebration will kick off in Chicago on May 20th to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, released in theaters on June 11, 1986. The first promo has been released to drum up even further buzz, but to also show fans what the actors who played Mr. and Mrs. Bueller look like now.
Lyman Ward and Cindy Pickett played Tom and Katie Bueller, the parents of Ferris (Matthew Broderick), and they return now three decades after the film’s release to urge fans to come out for Ferris Fest. As teased in the promo, which returns to the iconic house, the celebration will feature two screenings of the film featuring Q&As with some still-to-be-announced members of the cast, including Ward and Pickett. Elsewhere, tours through the various filming locations will be held, as well as a walkthrough of Ferris’ bedroom recreated by artists Sarah Keenlyside and Joe Clement, and a re-staging of the “Twist and Shout” street dancing sequence.
Watch the promo below:
Ward, Pickett, Jonathan Schmock (who played the French restaurant maitre’d), Edie McClurg (Grace), and Larry “Flash” Jenkins (garage attendant who borrows the Ferrari) are the only talent confirmed to appear, though the Ferris Fest website states the organizers are “currently in talks with more stars and production members). The original film, directed and written by John Hughes, also featured Alan Ruck as Cameron, Mia Sara as Sloane, Jeffrey Jones as the dean of students Ed Rooney, Jennifer Grey as Ferris’ sister Jeanie, Charlie Sheen as the bad boy in the police station, and Ben Stein as the economics teacher who famously said “Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?”
Ferris Fest will take place in various locations throughout Chicago beginning May 20th and ending the 22nd. Tickets for the festivities can be purchased online here. See preview images below:

Here's a cool bonus feature we've just added to FERRIS FEST! A private collector of all things John Hughes will be bringing his extensive collection of Ferris Bueller items for display at the Gorton Community Center/John and Nancy Hughes Theater during both Q&A screenings of FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF. These include storyboards, original international lobby cards and promotional materials, press kits, and even a screen-used Ferris Bueller jacket worn by Matthew Broderick in the movie (pictured)! There's much more to this collection that you'll only see at FERRIS FEST! www.ferrisfest.com #FerrisBuellersDayOff #FerrisBuellersDayOff30 #FerrisFest2016 A photo posted by Ferris Fest (@ferrisfest2016) on Mar 9, 2016 at 10:30am PST
During the FERRIS FEST filming locations tour from Lake Forest to downtown Chicago on Saturday and Sunday, everyone will be able to get off the tour buses, take photos, immerse and interact with the locations, and even experience some movie-related surprises along the way at several stops. Not one location will merely be a drive by!
