FX has had a lot of creative and critical success with their limited series, including Feud and American Crime Story. What was once called a miniseries, this mid-sized format has become an increasingly popular way to tell stories that won't fit in a movie, but may attract talent that only wants to sign on for one season. So it is with high hopes that I am looking at Fosse/Verdon, FX's latest limited series that has attracted some major talent, and looks majorly interesting.

As Vinnie Mancuso wrote when we covered the latest teaser, the series follows Sam Rockwell as iconic filmmaker and choreographer Bob Fosse alongside Michelle Williams as Fosse’s wife and creative partner, the four-time Tony award-winner Gwen Verdon. Based on the book Fosse by Sam Wasson, the eight-part event is executive-produced by a trio of live-theater dynamos in Lin-Manuel MirandaHamilton director Thomas Kail, and Dear Evan Hansen writer Steven Levenson.

Check out the trailer below. Fosse/Verdon—which also stars Aya CashNorbert Leo ButzKelli BarrettNate Corddry, and Evan Handler—premieres Tuesday, April 9 on FX.

Here is the official synopsis for Fosse/Verdon:

Based on Fosse, the biography written by Sam Wasson, this eight-part limited series tells the story of the singular romantic and creative partnership between Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon. He was a visionary filmmaker and one of theater’s most influential choreographers and directors, she was the greatest Broadway dancer of all time. Together they changed the face of American entertainment – at a perilous cost. Featuring Fosse’s choreography, the series explores the hidden corners of show business, the price of pursuing greatness, and the suffering inflicted in the name of art.
