All of a sudden things are looking up for Martin Lawrence.  After a string of disappointments in recent years ("Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins", "College Road Trip"), Lawrence suddenly has sequels for two of his most successful franchises in the works at two different studios - "Bad Boys" at Columbia and now "Big Momma's House" at Fox.  Hit the jump for details.

Last week we told you that there appeared to be movement on the development of "Bad Boys 3" now that writer Peter Craig has been brought in to whip up a screenplay  Now, according to Variety, movement on another potential Lawrence-starring threequel, "Big Momma's House 3", is inching closer to reality.

Fox has set writer Randi Mayem Singer (Dwayne Johnson's upcoming "The Tooth Fairy") to develop the further adventures of the cop who goes undercover as an elderly woman to foil bad guys.  Shockingly, the studio wants to keep the log line for the film "under wraps".

"Big Momma 1" was a big hit back in 2000, bringing in $174 million worldwide, and although its sequel fell to only $138 million six years later, that was from an estimated budget of only $40 million.  Bottom line here is - these movies make money.
