One of the most interesting things about this upcoming Game of Thrones Season 5 is that we're going to be spending a lot of time with a family we haven't had much interaction with as of yet. When it comes to the major houses of Westeros, the vast desert land to the south -- Dorne -- is often forgotten except at the mention of wine. But House Martell is a very interesting, and very different, house than what we've seen elsewhere in the Seven Kingdoms.

In Season 4, we were introduced to the Martells via Oberyn (Pedro Pascal), a.k.a. the Red Viper, along with his paramour Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma). We also learned of a few old blood feuds between the Martells and other Westerosi houses, and though they have stayed out of the vying for the Iron Throne, they clearly have revenge on their minds.

Unfortunately, Oberyn's time with us was cut short thanks to Ser Gregor Clegane (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson), but Season 5 will be expanding on the story of the Martells, taking us to Dorne and their home, the Sunspear. Recently, HBO gave EW access to some images of the Sand Snakes, who are Oberyn's daughters with Ellaria. They are fierce warriors who will be looking to avenge their father's death. The new cast includes Alexander Siddig as Doran Martell (Oberyn's brother, and Prince of Dorne), Jessica Henwick as Nymeria Sand, Keisha Castle-Hughes as Obara Sand, and Rosabell Laurenti as Tyene Sand.

A few other photos from EW show Jon Snow (Kit Harington) fighting at Castle Black, and (at the moment, far more interesting), Littlefinger (Aiden Gillen) seeking to guide Dark Sansa (Sophie Turner) into some sort of scheme that I wager has to do with the a Dance with Dragons storyline (as in, they're going to have her take over some storylines from there). I will remain cryptic on the subject, but we shall see! Also, Margeary Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) tells her clone-ish ladies-in-waiting about how all of her husbands just seem to up and die on her, while Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) and Varys (Conleth Hill) also have a chat (and Varys does not look pleased).

Check out this new teaser for the series, which is essentially a remix of the other full trailers (with a few new glimpses), along with the new images below. Game of Thrones Season 5 premieres on HBO April 12th at 9 p.m. ET.
