Fresh off the highly anticipated Battle of Winterfell episode—officially titled “The Long Night”—HBO has released the trailer for next week’s episode of Game of Thrones. With the Night King and his Army of the Dead defeated, it appears that all eyes are now on Cersei. As Dany puts it in this trailer, they’ve won the Great War and now they’re aiming to win the Last War. That kind of confidence—calling this the last war—surely doesn’t foretell doom, right?

While many figured we’d lose a number of heroes during the massive battle episode, most of the main Game of Thrones characters remain standing. Which sets up a showdown with Cersei and Euron for these final three episodes, as well as continued intrigue between Jon Snow and Dany now that Jon has been revealed as the true heir to the Iron Throne.

Indeed, we probably should have seen this coming. The show is called Game of Thrones after all, so of course the be-all end-all is leading towards that pesky Iron Throne and who will sit atop it, and not really a showdown with an ice zombie. It appears that next week’s episode will find the surviving heroes at Winterfell briefly celebrating their victory, then turning their attention towards how to defeat Cersei—who now not only has the Iron Fleet but also the Golden Company army. Will Arya pull a twofer?
