The upcoming DC Comics adaptation Green Lantern is adding some Oscar-winning gravitas to its cast. Hero Complex reports that Geoffrey Rush (The King’s Speech) will voice Tomar-Re, the CG-rendered alien teacher of the newest Green Lantern, Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Though Green Lantern news has been scarce up until recently (due in large part to reworking some visual effects), there will be new footage shown at this weekend’s WonderCon. Also, the first trailer for Green Lantern was released last November, but the studio will attach a new trailer in the previews for Thor. Little is known about how extensive Tomar-Re’s role in the film will be, it’s possible we’ll see him again in the recently announced Justice League project.Rush will next reprise his role as Barbossa in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which opens May 20.  Hit the jump for more on Green Lantern.Green Lantern -- directed by Martin Campbell and starring Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and Mark Strong -- hits theaters on June 17. In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.  The movie also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Jay O. Sanders, Temuera Morrison, Taika Waititi, Jon Tenney, Angela Bassett, and Tim Robbins.
