‘Ghostbusters’ International Trailer Shows Off More Gadgets, Ghosts, and Guffaws

     May 20, 2016

It’s been some sort of unholy hell keeping up with news about the Ghostbusters remake, which recasts the likes of Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson with Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones. Not because the film looks unfunny or lazy or misguided, as one might have assumed, but rather because of the barrage of hate that the upcoming comedy has garnered for some utterly known reason. And yes, I’m sure that some of these complaints are based on a non-misogynistic dislike for the level of jokes or the remaking of a classic in any new form, but considering the level of hate for most new Adam Sandler joints isn’t even within spitting distance of what Ghostbusters has been dealing with, I’m thinking those are the minority in this case.

Regardless, the latest trailer for the comedy comes from Sony UK, and boasts quite a lot of new footage of the proton packs, new ghosts, and the containment unit, amongst other things. Though I can’t say that Ghostbusters is on my most anticipated list for summer movies, I will say that I found myself laughing more than once at these trailers, and I’m looking forward to seeing how director Paul Feig and his cast & crew rethink one of the most classic comedies of the 1980s.

Check out the international trailer for the new Ghostbusters below:

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they’re here to save the world!
