Paul Feig’s new Ghostbusters now has the stamp of approval from all the surviving Ghostbusters. THR reports that in addition to Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson will also have a cameo in the upcoming film.
It’s been a nice surprise to get the original members back since they each had a reason for saying no. Aykroyd wanted his vision of a Ghostbusters—a passing of the torch film—but it never came to fruition; Murray seemed hesitant to return to the franchise at all; and when Hudson was asked about an all-ladies Ghostbusters, he told the Telegraph:
"I heard it was going to be a total reboot, and that it would have nothing to do with the other two movies," he said. "If it has nothing to do with the other two movies, and it's all female, then why are you calling it Ghostbusters?
"I love females. I hope that if they go that way at least they'll be funny, and if they're not funny at least hopefully it'll be sexy. I love the idea of including women, I think that's great.
"But all-female I think would be a bad idea. I don't think the fans want to see that.
However, he later said that an all-female Ghostbusters team would be “phenomenal”.
Now with filming wrapped, it looks like Hudson has come around completely from his completely asinine original remarks, and while THR has no details on his role, at least he probably won’t be bad-mouthing the film anymore.
