While everyone is understandably fixated on Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the moment, we do have some pretty neat blockbusters headed our way in 2016—including a new Ghostbusters movie. Indeed, the long, long developing reboot/sequel/follow-up finally came to fruition via Bridesmaids and Spy filmmaker Paul Feig, and a fantastic new image of the cast has been released online.

I’ll be honest—I really, really love the ensemble Feig put together for this film, and I have a feeling it’s gonna result in something special. Each actress is super talented and funny in her own way, and the range here is on par with the diversity of the original Ghostbusters cast. The prospect of seeing Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones bustin’ ghosts, kickin’ ass, and gettin' downright science-y is incredibly enticing, and this is certainly one of my most anticipated films of 2016.

But the message of this new image is loud and clear, and these new Ghostbusters mean business. This is a crew that's not only funny, but looks like they could feasibly take on a slew of ghosts trying to take over New York City without the help of a Jackie Wilson-infused Statue of Liberty. I do like the subtle nods to the original seen here in this new photo, from the art deco architecture in the background to the burst of green light. We already know the answer to whether we'll see some of the original cast members or not (click here if you want to know), but I'm curious to see the balance between how heavily Feig leans on the legacy of the original and how much he makes the franchise his own. Now, if only we could see some footage from this thing. Here’s hoping a debut trailer is just around the corner.

For now, take a look at the new image below in hi-res. The film also stars Chris Hemsworth, Andy Garcia, Michael Kenneth Williams, Matt Walsh, and Cecily Strong. Ghostbusters opens in theaters on July 15, 2016.
