Odds are you may be reading this article at an actual Luke’s coffee shop at the moment, as Netflix has transformed coffee shops across the country into the famous “Luke’s” from Gilmore Girls to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the show’s premiere. And now, in addition to those pop-ups, Netflix has unveiled a new behind-the-scenes featurette in which the reunited cast looks back on the show’s first seven seasons and discusses coming back together for all-new episodes dubbed Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

Indeed, 16 years ago today Gilmore Girls debuted on The WB, running for seven seasons and bridging the gap between the network’s transformation from The WB to The CW. After years of talk about a reunion, Netflix came to the rescue and conscripted creator Amy Sherman-Palladino to return and write four, 90-minute episodes that look in on where the characters are now, 10 years after the show went off the air.

It’s neat to see everyone back together in this behind-the-scenes featurette, and while there are only four new episodes (each taking place in a different season of the year), the super-sized nature of them kinda makes it more like four Gilmore Girls movies instead of a truncated Season 8. Moreover, it’s nice to know that stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel were heavily compensated for their return to the show that jump-started both of their careers.

Check out the Gilmore Girls cast video below, which also features Milo Ventimiglia, Jared Padalecki, Keiko Agena, Scott Patterson, and Liza Weil. All four installments of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will be available everyone on Netflix on November 25th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life:

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life consists of four memorable chapters from the lives of Lorelai, Emily, Rory and countless more Stars Hollow stalwarts. The story is told through four 90-minute chapters -- each spanning one season: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall -- and brings back to life everything from the quaint corner diner to the dreamy Dragonfly Inn to a fast-talking, quick-witted mother-daughter love story unlike any other. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life launches Friday, November 25, everywhere that Netflix is available.
