Following the Gravity trailers “Detached” and “Drifting”, Warner Bros. has released the last of the three new trailers, “I’ve Got You”.  Although director Alfonso Cuaron’s has shown the power of the long take in the previous segments (because that’s what these trailers really are), “I’ve Got You” shows that the cuts can be just as powerful.  All three segments highlight the terror of being adrift in space, and do so in a way we’ve rarely seen before (the only other moment that comes to mind is when HAL tries to cut Poole loose in 2001: A Space Odyssey).  My only question is if the sound effects that are in this trailer will be used in the final cut.  As Cuaron reminded the audience in Hall H at Comic-Con, there’s no sound in space.

Here’s the synopsis for Gravity:

Sandra Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone–tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
