If the first trailer for The Greasy Strangler left you hungry for more, you might be a little weird. But we're not judging. That's exactly the kind of audience that Jim Hosking's bizarre comedy/horror/thriller is aimed at. And now, with the debut of a new, official, NSFW trailer, those folks can slake their thirst with an additional helping of greasy strangeness.

As far as personal preferences go, I lean towards films like Turbo Kid--which was also produced by one of The Greasy Strangler production banners, Timpson Films--which have a more linear story to act as an anchor point. This nutty picture might have one, but if so, it's not wholly apparent in the trailers so far. What the marketing does get across is a feeling of the strange comedy stylings of folks like Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim crossed with schlocky effects work reminiscent of Troma Entertainment. That's certainly an interesting mash-up; whether it's effective or not remains to be seen.

Audiences can #getgreasy when The Greasy Strangler starring Michael St. Michaels, Sky Elobar, Elizabeth De Razzo, Gil Gex, Jesse Keen, and Joe David Walters, comes to theaters and on-demand starting October 7th.

And here's the official, and appropriately weird, synopsis:

Directed by Jim Hosking, THE GREASY STRANGLER is a surreal, midnight-horror comedy produced by Timpson Films (Turbo Kid, Deathgasm), Drafthouse Films (distribution arm of cinephile-serving Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas), Rook Films (Kill List), and Elijah Wood’s production company SpectreVision (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, Cooties). World Premiered in the 2016 Sundance Film Festival Midnight Section.

The Los Angeles-set tale follows Ronnie, a man who runs a Disco Walking tour along with his browbeaten son, Brayden. When a sexy, alluring woman comes to take the tour, it begins a competition between father and son for her attentions. It also signals the appearance of an oily, slimy inhuman maniac who stalks the streets at night and strangles the innocent, soon dubbed ‘The Greasy Strangler.’
