It’s only April but I’d be shocked if Green Room doesn’t wind up being one of my favorite films of 2016. I was lucky enough to attend the world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September and haven’t stopped talking about Jeremy Saulnier‘s latest since. It stars Anton Yelchin, Alia Shawkat, Joe Cole and Callum Turner as The Ain’t Rights, a punk band that’s wrapping up a rough tour and doesn’t even have the funds to get home. In an effort to make some quick cash, they accept a questionable gig at a secluded backwoods bar. All goes well enough until The Ain’t Rights stumble upon something they shouldn’t have seen and now the club owner (Patrick Stewart) won’t let them go.
Clearly I’m a big fan of the film so it’s quite the treat to get to debut two new very atmospheric motion posters, one featuring Yelchin as Pat and another of Imogen Poots as Amber, a bar patron who winds up caught in the standoff as well. Check out the Green Room motion posters for yourself below and click here for my review. The movie hits theaters in New York and LA on April 15th and then expands nationwide on April 29th.
Here’s the official synopsis for Green Room:
Down on their luck punk rockers The Ain’t Rights are finishing up a long and unsuccessful tour, and are about to call it quits when they get an unexpected booking at an isolated, run-down club deep in the backwoods of Oregon. What seems merely to be a third-rate gig escalates into something much more sinister when they witness an act of violence backstage that they weren’t meant to see. Now trapped backstage, they must face off against the club’s depraved owner, Darcy Banker (Stewart), a man who will do anything to protect the secrets of his nefarious enterprise. But while Darcy and his henchmen think the band will be easy to get rid of, The Ain’t Rights prove themselves much more cunning and capable than anyone expected, turning the tables on their unsuspecting captors and setting the stage for the ultimate life-or-death showdown.
