Marvel and James Gunn released the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Written and directed by James Gunn, the follow-up reunites Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and of course, Baby Groot, to battle a new threat while in search of Peter Quill’s father. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens in theaters on May 5, 2017.

It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report brought to you by AMC Theatres. In a repeat from last weekend, Disney's Moana finished in the No 1 spot at the weekend box office for a second week in a row taking in $28.37 million with a domestic total just under $120 million. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them took the No 2 spot with $18.5 million for a domestic total of $183.5 million, marking the tenth largest release in 2016. Arrival took the No 3 spot with $7.3 million with a domestic total at $73 million and $105.2 million worldwide. At No 4 was Allied, taking in $7 million for a domestic total of $28.9 million. And at No 5 was Doctor Strange. The Marvel release conjured $6.48 million bringing its domestic total to $215.3 million.

According to a report from THR, Amy Schumer is in negotiations to star in Sony’s live-action Barbie movie. The story will be in the vein of Splash and Enchanted in which the main character is kicked out of Barbieland for not being perfect enough and lands in a real-world adventure. A search is now on for a director with a release date targeted for summer 2018.

Universal Pictures debuted the first full trailer for The Mummy last night online and during Sunday Night Football. The movie stars Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Russell Crowe as Doctor Jekyll. The movie is directed by Alex Kurtzman and set to open in theatres on June 9, 2017.

Warner Bros. and DC Films have finally set a release date for their standalone debut of Jason Momoa‘s Aquaman. Per Deadline, the film is now set to open on October 5, 2018 in both 3D and IMAX. The Conjuring and Furious 7 helmer James Wan will direct the film about the King of Atlantis, who will make his proper debut in in 2017’s Justice League directed by Zach Snyder.

At the recent Comic Con Experience 2016 in Brazil, a short clip from Jon Watts‘ Spider-Man: Homecoming debuted and in it featured an upgrade to Spidey’s suit that looks to now include the under-the-arm web-wings from the classic comics. The description of the footage, thanks to Omelete, shows Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan asking if Tom Holland’s Peter Parker received a package from Tony Stark. The next scene shows Spider-Man on top of a building with the new, upgraded wing suit.
