While there were some Earth-set flashback scenes involving a young Peter Quill, James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy opened up the Marvel Cinematic Universe to an array of intergalactic vistas and the creatures that populate them. For the sequel, it looks like the story is heading back to Earth as hinted by new footage shot from the film’s Atlanta set.

Over the weekend, Gunn wrote on Instagram, “Hope you're enjoying your Sunday. I'm shooting a movie.” Now we see what he’s been up to. The video, shot by a Georgian bystander and posted to Facebook, reveals a scene in which a crowd of people are anxiously sprinting away from some hulking mass that’s barreling through a line of cars. Whatever the assailant, he, she, or it will be inserted later through the magic of CGI, but one thing seems clear and that’s the Earthly setting. There’s no alien-bedecked extra nor advanced tech in sight.

Watch the scene in the video below.

This moment could very well be another flashback sequence, though it’s difficult to imagine whose flashback. Quill’s first alien encounter was presumably the moment he was taken off Earth by Yondu’s crew, so the other likely scenario is that the Guardians are heading to Earth. We know that Vol. 2 will deal with the mysterious identity of Quill’s father, who one would assume spent time on Earth impregnating Quill’s mother. Perhaps Star-Lord’s search to find answers brings him back home.

Chris Pratt (Quill/Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Vin Diesel (Groot), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu) all return for the sequel, which also features Kurt Russell reportedly as Quill’s dad, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy) as one of Yondu’s ravagers, and Elizabeth Debicki in a still mysterious role.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
