‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’: James Gunn Says He’s Cast the Villains and Star Lord’s Father

     January 29, 2016

James Gunn is killing it on social media. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director has made himself unusually accessible to fans, especially considering he’s at the helm of a massive franchise for a studio known for its secrecy. But Gunn can pull it off because he’s managed to find the fine line between satisfying fan curiosity without actually giving anything away.

Take his most recent bursts of social activity, in which he answered some more fan questions, offering little tidbits about the status of pre-production — most notably, he has cast Star Lord’s much speculated about father as well as the central villain and/or villains. We know there will be at least two villains since Nebula is confirmed for a return, but Gunn coyly didn’t address the implied question of whether it’s a single villain, or multiple. Like I said, he’s good at this. Gunn also commented on how much freedom Marvel has given him on the sequel, the two Marvel movies he definitely won’t be directing, how long he spent on the Vol. 2 script, and more. Check it out below.
