Disney has released a couple of new Guardians of the Galaxy images that highlight Chris Pratt’s overall badass nature as protagonist Star-Lord aka Peter Quill.  Though some were nonplussed at the prospect of the Parks and Recreation actor leading a major Marvel comics adaptation, he looks to have nailed the heroic/comedic tone of the lead character in writer/director James Gunn’s film based on the first trailer.  These two new images provide further evidence that Pratt very much looks the part while donning Star-Lord’s signature mask.

Hit the jump to check out the new Guardians of the Galaxy images.  The film also stars Zoe Saldana, David Bautista, Lee Pace, Benicio Del Toro, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, and the voices of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel.  Guardians of the Galaxy opens in 2D and 3D on August 1st.
