You can always trust the toy people jump the gun when it comes to information on a movie.  The merchandise is developed incredibly early because it's one of the most important revenue streams for blockbusters.  It also doesn't have to adhere to final plots, although sometimes they do.  We've received Hasbro's listing of toys for Guardians of the Galaxy, a property ideally suited for a toyline.  It's not just one protagonist.  There are five (Star Lord, Drax, Gamora, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon) and plenty of supporting characters.  As anyone who's been to a toy store knows, just because an action figure is on the rack, it doesn't mean it's in the movie (e.g., War Machine isn't in Iron Man 3).

Hit the jump for a list of toys that will be attached to Guardians of the Galaxy, but consider yourself warned about possible spoilers.  The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Michael Rooker, Djimon Hounsou, Peter Serafinowicz, and Benicio Del Toro.  Guardians of the Galaxy opens August 1, 2014.

Now there are things that could be plot points like Star Lord and Gamora fighting even though they're on the same team.  There are others that could be a stretch like Drax taking on the big-bad Thanos solo.  And then there's just silly stuff like "Iron Man".  I suppose there could be the Iron Man armor, but Robert Downey Jr. probably won't be in it.  As we previously reported, Downey is in for The Avengers 2 and The Avengers 3.  Those two movies alone will give him a ludicrous amount of money, and I doubt Marvel will pay more to have him show up as a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy.  It's possible that Marvel has kept that part of his contract hidden (Guardians will be the last Phase Two movie before The Avengers 2), but it's doubtful.  Even for a post-credits scene, that's a stretch.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there were The Avengers-related Thanos action figures when the movie came out.

Overall, this list may contain minor spoilers, but I don't see any major revelations in here.  The main characters are going to get multiple toys.  Some of them, like the ones for Star Lord and Rocket Raccoon, don't even specify the differences.  But stay tuned for a merchandising expo when more will probably be revealed well in advance of Marvel's big marketing push for the movie.
