Christopher Miller Teases ‘Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film’ with New Image

     May 4, 2016

Disney/Lucasfilm’s Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film may not have an official title or a lead actor yet, but you can be damn well sure it has some iconic weapons. Co-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who can do no wrong after the successes of 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie to name a couple, are anxious to start shooting on the Star Wars prequel that will focus on a young Han Solo. When it comes to revealing anything about the movie, I suppose you could say that Miller shot first.

The co-director took to Twitter today in honor of #MayThe4th in order to share a cheeky behind-the-scenes image from the film, which is currently in pre-production ahead of its May 25, 2018 release date. The last we heard, Hail Caesar’s Alden Ehrenreich, Transformers Age of Extinction’s Jack Raynor, and Kingsman’s Taron Egerton were still vying for the coveted role, with Ehrenreich emerging as the young man to beat. One of them will win the honor of carrying Han Solo’s signature blaster pistol, which can be seen below.

Check out the new image courtesy of Miller’s Twitter account:

If you’re unfamiliar with the above-seen weapon, it’s a DL-44 heavy blaster pistol, a model produced by BlasTech Industries that was equally known for its powerful blast and tendency to overheat. It was made famous by the smuggler anti-hero Han Solo during his struggle against the Empire. Perhaps we’ll get more backstory on the DL-44 and how it found its way into the hands of Han Solo when the new prequel hits screens in 2018.
